Events Listings

Not sure what events listing services are most popular in your area? Ask your customers!

  • Librarything Local - Great place to post literary events. Use the Add Event option near top of page. If your library isn't yet listed in LibraryThing, use the Add Venue option to get started. If your library's events calendar has and RSS feed, you can use that to bring ALL your events into LibraryThing Local. Very nifty.
  • BookSaleManager - List your upcoming booksales for free.
  • - Affiliated with Yahoo, so you'll need to sign up for a Yahoo account to add event.
  • - Example of a county-wide kids listing (Westchester CO NY and Fairfield Co, CT)
  • Eventful - Great events calendar, free to list your events. Can also create a 'widget' to put your events on your web site, blog or other community web sites. (eg: Harris Country Public Library
  • EventBrite - free event registration, fee for paid events.
  • Wherevent - new event aggregator, currently pulls public events from Facebook. Not clear if it includes every public event or not. Browseable by location.

  • Poets & Writers

Share Your Calendar

Some events calendars provide you with a widget that you can use to put your events on your own web pages and share with other local groups that would be interested in displaying your events.

Google Calendar

This is not an option that will put your events into a national/regional database of events, but it does make it easy for people to add your calendar to their own Google Calendar. Google Calendar info can easily be included on the web sites of other organizations to cross-promote  events.
