Finding Web 2.0 Tools & trying to keep ahead of the curve

After Lunch - Exploration Exercise

We're covering a limited selection of basic tools in class today - there are so many more!  This is your time to explore a new tool of your own choosing. Pick something that interests you! It doesn't have to be something of use to your library!

  • Pick a tool from the list below, test something that you've heard of but haven't had time to try, or pick something from one of the directories above.
  • Sign up for an account if you need to/want to. Or just explore the tool to see what it has to offer.
  • Think about how you might use it in your work or personal life.
  • Share your thoughts wih the class by posting your comments on the class blog.

Some suggestions:

  • Facebook - social networking
  • - Create a family tree and so much more! Geneaology gone mad!
  • Twitter  -  Microblogging? Communication? Way too much information? You decide.
  • Ravelry - Social networking for the knitter.
  • SlideShare - Share your presentations & learn from the presentations of others.
  • VoiceThread - Post pictures, slides, photos. Add narration. Invite others to comment and participate.
  • meebo - Use the IM chat box on your web pages for easy IM chat with your users.
  • Google Docs Form/Spreadsheet - Create a form to collect data and it is stored in a spreadsheet for you.
  • TaDa List - Making a list, checking it twice, gonna find out who's... you know the rest. Easy to use list making tool.
