Social Networking

Social tools are here to stay! Facebook and twitter are currently two of the most popular services out there. And many web services have social features built in.  Some examples:

• Commenting on blog posts and news articles
• Writing and sharing book reviews on Amazon, GoodReads and Librarything,
• Commenting on photos on flickr

 

How are these tools being used in schools by students and faculty?

• Libraries are using Facebook to connect with students, share resources, answer questions
• Students can use twitter to share reactions during classes
• Librarians are using twitter to contribute to class discussions
• Edmodo is used to create a private twitter-like network for classes (read more)
• Share ideas with colleagues and get help with questions. A Personal Learning Network.

Social networking tool that lets anyone set up a facebook-like network around any topic imaginable. And a nice way to get started with social networking. Two popular education related Nings are:
